Help with Receiving Emails from Heritage Alliance

Texas Star Bullet

Why am I not receiving emails from Heritage Alliance?

There are many possible problems here.

  1. Confirm that you are receiving emails from others. If you are not, check with ISP or email provider.

Sorry for stating the obvious, but "oops" happens to the best of us.

  2. Ensure that we have your email address listed correctly.

If you are a member, you can check your email address in our member area on our Edit Account Information page.

For the Daily Prayer list, you can also try to subscribe again (double-checking the address you type).

  3. Ensure that you are subscribed to the list in our member area on our Change Email List Subscriptions page.

  4. For the Daily Prayer list, you will need to reply to our automated email before being added to our list. This reply needs to come from the same email account that is being subscribed (i.e., it must have the correct address in the "from" line).

These steps will ensure that our emails are being sent to you. However, it is still possible that you are not receiving the email even though it is sent. This is most likely due to a spam filter.

How do I get emails from Heritage Alliance if my spam filter is blocking them?

Since spam is such a large problem, most ISP's have set up very zealous spam detectors. The unfortunate fact and problem with this is that a computer cannot reliably determine what is and isn't spam. As a result, it is not uncommon for spam filters to mistake legitimate mail for spam. Unfortunately, we cannot correct your spam filter settings to allow emails from us. However, the good news is you will likely have control of these spam filters or might have even set them up yourself.

Here's what you can do:

  1. Check with your ISP on editing your spam filters - it is likely an option in your webmail interface. It is possible that the spam filters are in your email program, but these filters would most likely have been set up by you.

SBC Yahoo webmail and spam filters are available at mail.yahoo.com by selecting Options.
RoadRunner's webmail and filters vary depending on your location.

  2. Look in your bulk or spam email folder to verify if our emails have been mistakenly tagged as "spam".

  3. Have spam sent to a spam folder instead of being deleted. This allows you to check for mislabeled spam.

  4. Reduce the threshold for spam detection, which will unfortunately result in seeing more spam. Here you are balancing losing legitmate email with getting more spam.

  5. Add *@heritagealliance.com to your white list (sometimes called a ham list). Note that many filters will not take the * wildcard. In this case, each address would have to be entered:

listdomo@heritagealliance.com (used by the Daily Prayer list)*
info@heritagealliance.com (used by the Legislative Alerts, In the News, and Other lists)
membership@heritagealliance.com (used for password requests and other membership related emails)

    * Depending on how your spam filter works, you might also need to add dailyprayer@lists.heritagealliance.com and dailyprayer-bounces@lists.heritagealliance.com to the white list.

  6. Complain to your ISP or email provider as a last resort. They may employ filters that you cannot control and that is not a very customer-friendly policy - especially if they have mislabeled your legitimate mail as spam.

We are sorry for the trouble and we wish there was more we could do to help, but spam filters are not something we can control from our end. However, if your or your ISP or email provider would like more information on our lists, contact us.
