The 16 members of the Texas Legislature who received a 90 percent or better on the 2007 Heritage Alliance conservative scorecard were honored at Fellowship Bible Church in Dallas. Twelve of the 16 legislators were present to receive the Heritage Alliance 2007 Conservative Leader Award.

The Freedom Texas Celebration, co-sponsored by Interstate Batteries, also honored members of the United States military.

"The freedoms we enjoy every day can only be protected by those with the courage to stand up for the values upon which our country was founded," said Richard Ford, Founder and President of Heritage Alliance. "These 16 legislators and our military deserve our respect and our gratitude."

Ford and Interstate Batteries Chairman Norm Miller presented awards to the following legislators. The House members who received a score of 90 percent or higher were, in descending order: Jodie Laubenberg (R-89); Betty Brown (R-4); Joe Crabb (R-127); Linda Harper-Brown (R-105); Debbie Riddle (R-150); Charlie Howard (R-26); Nathan Macias (R-73); Rob Orr (R-58); Ken Paxton (R-70); Bill Zedler (R-96); Wayne Christian (R-9); Rob Eissler (R-15); Kelly Hancock (R-91); Tan Parker (R-63); Wayne Smith (R-128); and Larry Taylor (R-24). No state senators scored a 90 percent.

Also receiving special recognition was Rep. Warren Chisum, Chairman House Appropriations Committee.

The Freedom Texas Celebration was emceed by Dallas television celebrity, John Criswell. The event also featured prayer and praise to God, as well as special music by the legendary group, The Levee Singers.
